Currais Novos
Currais Novos belongs to the Mesoregion of Central
Brazil and the Oriental Seridó, located at 172 km from the State capital,
Natal.
Strong geological formation, the city stands out for
harbouring the Brejuí mine, the largest mine of scheelite from South America
and the Canyon of the Tight, only canyon of granitic rock in the world.
The Brejuí mine, located seven kilometers from the
city, became a point of attraction, opening its facilities to visitors who can
move through the tunnels of inactive mining company, walking the trails of
scheelite and meet curraisnovense mining history, family and a pioneer in the
exploration of scheelite Tomáz Salustino Memorial.
Other sights that are worth mentioning: the village of
Totoró, nine kilometers from the city, where you will find the archaeological
museum; the stone ship at the exit of the town towards the Christmas; the
Canyon and the falls of the Tightened; the array of Sant Anna, and the urban
complex composed by the squares Christ the King and judge Tomáz Salustino,
where the replica of the image of Christ the Redeemer in Rio de Janeiro in
smaller size, the landmark of Foundation of the city, the Hotel tungsten and
the bandstand.

Currais Novos
Currais Novos pertence à Mesorregião do
Central Potiguar e à Microrregião do Seridó Oriental, localizado a
172 km da capital estadual, Natal.
De forte formação geológica, o município
se destaca por abrigar a Mina Brejuí, a maior mina de scheelita da América
do Sul e o Canyon dos Apertados, único canyon de rocha granítica do
mundo.
A Mina Brejuí, localizada a sete
quilômetros da cidade, transformou-se em ponto de atração, abrindo suas
instalações aos visitantes que podem percorrer os túneis inativos da
mineradora, caminhar pelas trilhas da scheelita e conhecer a história da
mineração curraisnovense, da família e do pioneiro na exploração da scheelita
no Memorial Tomáz Salustino.
Outros pontos turísticos que merecem
destaque são: o povoado de Totoró, a nove quilômetros da cidade, onde se
encontra o Museu Arqueológico; a Pedra do Navio, na saída da cidade em direção
a Natal; o Canyon e a cachoeira dos Apertados; a Matriz de Sant´Anna; e o
complexo urbano composto pelas praças Cristo Rei e desembargador Tomáz
Salustino, onde se encontram a réplica da imagem do Cristo Redentor carioca em
tamanho menor, o marco de fundação da cidade, o Hotel Tungstênio e o coreto.
